図書館の功罪に関するA.Doerr氏の見解。
Anthony Doerrの『About Grace』を読み進んでいる。なぜ雪の結晶が表紙にあしらわれているのかはすぐに解った。静かな悲しみをたたえた物語は、新しい仕事を得て高速で回転しはじめた日常から、遠く遠く離れた場所へ連れて行ってくれる。

訳すと著作権がうるさそうなのでやらないけれど、このまえの東野氏の『さいえんす？』ネタとかぶっているので（けっきょく読んでないや…）、興味のある向きはどうぞ。以下、パンチラインの引用。

Which is great. I’m not complaining. I’m thrilled to get 31 cents, but far, far, far more than that, I’m thrilled and deeply honored that someone might take 6 or 8 hours out of his or her life to engage with my work.
皮肉なことに東野本なら図書館に山のようにあるけれど、『About Grace』はなかったので買うしかなかった。怪我の功名ってやつですか。
